The Hypoallergenic Diet

The following list of foods was compiled at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) and lists foods to eat and foods to avoid in order to minimize inflammation in your body. It is based on the work of many health practitioners, including naturopathic doctors, medical doctors, and nutritionists and has had tremendous health benefits for people suffering from all sorts of diseases. If you are ever in Toronto, I suggest visiting CCNM’s Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic, where teams of clinicians work together for you to optimize your well-being.

The hypoallergenic diet is divided into two stages. First, eliminate all allergenic foods for three weeks. If your symptoms subside, after three weeks reintroduce one restricted food in two meals every day for three days before reintroducing another restricted food. By doing this, you will notice whether your body reacts to a particular food. Signs of inflammation include fatigue, anxiety, depression, skin rashes, joint pain, runny or stuffy nose, or the return of old symptoms that disappeared when you were off the food. If you get any symptoms, you need to avoid the triggering food or use it sparingly.

Vegetables, Fruits, Legumes, Nuts & Seeds which are usually Hypoallergenic
